You may have noticed I didn’t write on Wednesday last week. I was planning to but my darling Finn ate some human painkillers that are highly toxic to dogs. It took an emergency vet visit, an overnight stay on a drip, charcoal, blood tests, and days of pills before we knew he would be ok. It was absolutely terrifying and ate most of last week. I don’t have words for how relieved I am that he is recovering. He may only have been with me for a few months, but I love him so deeply.
A few days before the vet emergency I had taken Finn to Mên-an-Tol, some standing stones near me. When we arrived all his hair stood on end, and he warily circled the stones from a distance. It didn’t take long for him to get closer, and it didn’t take much to coax him through the centre stone. Then it was a process of working out the right set of instructions to get the photographs I wanted. It was a fun way to build on his training, and a great first photoshoot with my gorgeous little wolf. I thought you might like to see the results.
I am going to write properly on Wednesday, which just happens to be A Nomadic Rose’s 2nd birthday. Ahead of this milestone I had a few questions I was hoping you might be willing to answer. An anniversary like this is a great moment to take stock and make changes, and I would love your input into those changes.
Since the start of the year, I have had an incredible and hugely welcome 55 free subscribers to A Nomadic Rose. Every time I get an email notifying me of a new free subscriber I am over moon. Knowing that so many people are reading, and that new people keep choosing to join me on this journey keeps me writing.
However, since January I have only had 1 paid subscriber. When I started A Nomadic Rose, I knew it would be a long journey before it truly added to my income. At the moment that journey has stalled, which makes me think something isn’t working. I dream of A Nomadic Rose becoming a strong and steady part of my creative process. The number of free and paid subscribers supporting me, and the income that is starting to provide, proves my dream is possible. I am grateful to each and everyone of you. I also believe that a few changes will help the next year bring that dream even closer. So here are my questions:
To everyone who take a moment to answer these questions I offer a heartfelt thanks. I will write again on Wednesday with my proper birthday post and announce the changes coming to A Nomadic Rose. Until then, I hope the start of your weeks is wonderful.
And, if you would like the special, Cornish made, birthday celebration gift I am posting to my Founding Members on Wednesday, upgrade today!
As a fellow creative, I hear your frustration. Most of my followers are off platform and it's been tough extending my reach on platform. I think getting other creatives to pay is difficult, since we are many of us in the same boat. I'd simply say to keep writing, shooting and trying new things. See what sticks what doesn't. I do know that a paid subscription requires a value add. So part of your experimenting May be along those lines.
Rosie, first of all, soooo good to hear Finn is doing better ... what a worry. And re attracting paid subscribers .... I am not the person to ask(!) but part of me says it is about creating a community of like-minded Souls ..... our intentions are so very important .... & the Universe is always listening. Sending much love & light your way .... from Mexico. xxxxx
