Its in the Details
My grandmother is a Jewish Hungarian Holocaust survivor. She fled Budapest at the end of WWII. I have never lived there, nor do I speak the language. But since childhood, I’ve known that some part of me belongs there. I first came to Budapest with my grandmother, Marika, when I was 10 years old. Since then I have forged a connection to the city through its rhythms and details, captured by my camera.
It is the small things that stand out to me, the details of the city. That is what I love about this photograph. It could have been taken in so many places, and yet to me it is entirely Budapest. My framing and unusual angle perfectly shows off the incredible and intricate design work gone into even the the smallest details in this wonderful city.
